I don’t know about you, but when I think of Planned Parenthood, I think of the controversy around the organization as an abortion provider. I don’t think about guns when I think of them, and I doubt that you do, either.
Apparently, though, at least some Planned Parenthood organizations think that they need to get involved in gun control activities. My best guess is that it is somehow connected to the tending towards the left side of the political spectrum which tends to both support abortion and to want to ban guns. (i’ll stay away from any discussion, here, about whether that’s an oxymoronic position, as many pro–life people would argue, because this is a site about guns.)
So, what has this particular Planned Parenthood “affiliate” in Tennessee done? Cortney Weil writes,
A Planned Parenthood affiliate in Tennessee intends to bring a cadre of armed security personnel when its members protest a special session regarding gun control at the state House in a few months.
I may be staying away from discussing whether promoting abortion and gun control at the same time is oxymoronic, but I can’t help but point out that it’s definitely oxymoronic to bring armed guards to a protest for gun control.
Think about it: Like Joe Biden and other anti–2A hypocrites, they want guns to protect them, but they don’t want you to be able to protect yourself even though, statistically, you, as a legal gun owner, are less likely to commit a criminal act than even law enforcement officers (and it’s a pretty low portion of the law enforcement community who commit crimes).
So, the question that you have to ask is: Why do they think that they need armed guards? Do they really think that legal gun owners are going to pull a firearm and shoot them over a disagreement on the topic? If so, they need to get out of their mainstream media echo chamber.
No, it’s not legal gun owners that they have to be worried about. It’s political leftists who get their hands on firearms that have much more of a tendency to be active shooters than typical gun owners in America, who are more often politically conservative.
So, are these Planned Parenthood folks really just trying to protect themselves from each other?
Really, these anti–2A people just don’t make any sense.
