28th Constitutional Carry State? – Prepared Gun Owners

Constitutional carry. It’s a big deal these days, and I know that, like me, you’re of the opinion that the Second Amendment to our Constitution made constitutional carry the law of the land.

Sadly, though, there are ignorant people who think that they have the right to take our right to keep and bear arms from us, so, constitutional carry is a way to reassert that right on a state-by-state basis. And that’s why you’re seeing this come up again and again.

The good news is that we, the pro-gun people of this country, are winning this issue state-by-state. And it looks like we may be about to get our 28th one. Cam Edwards writes,

With Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry’s stunning victory in the gubernatorial jungle primary over the weekend, the state will soon have a GOP trifecta; majority control of both chambers of the legislature as well as the governor’s office. That should help clear the way for the passage of Constitutional Carry, though I’m not quite as confident as FPC’s Rob Romano is.

I think this definitely improves the chances that Louisiana will become the 28th Constitutional Carry state in 2024, but it’s important to remember what happened with permitless carry this year. While the House overwhelmingly approved Rep. Danny McCormick’s bill, the legislation never got to the desk of Gov. John Bel Edwards because it died in the GOP-controlled State Senate back in early June.

Edwards continues:

The odds are definitely in gun owners’ favor now, but Louisianans can’t take it for granted that permitless carry is going to make it to Landry’s desk for his signature.

Will Louisiana become the next constitutional carry state? We’ll have to see.

What is for sure, though, is that the people of Louisiana deserve to know that they have this right in place in a way that can’t be threatened.
